| Dr. Josephine Kershaw is an Associate Professor/Coordinator of the health care management program at the College of Business, University of Findlay. She completed her Ph.D. in social sciences and education with emphasis in economics and her M.B.A. with an interdisciplinary specialization in health services policy and administration from Florida State University. She received training at the Harvard School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, and as a Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner. Dr. Kershaw has previously taught Florida A&M University. She is a consultant to National Institutes of Health grant review panels and for local community-based organizations. In 2011, she was awarded the Great Lakes Region Teaching Excellence Award. Dr. Kershaw served as the Director of Evaluation for Florida's Tobacco Pilot Program under the Executive Office of the Governor. She has also been a senior epidemiologist for the Florida Department of Health and a senior management analyst for the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Previously, she served as editor of the 1993 Florida State Health Plan and conducted performance reviews of state agency programs for the Florida Legislature. Dr. Kershaw has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to several evaluation reports, and authored three book chapters. Her research interests are in the areas of quality and performance excellence, health disparities and human rights, long-term care, tobacco use and HIV/AIDS prevention, health policy, and program evaluation. Under the Fulbright–Nehru grant Dr. Kershaw is hoping to integrate her experience as a teacher in health and business administration, research in health disparities and human rights. She is also looking forward to strengthen the relationships with Indian health care and educational partners through seminars, meetings with health personnel, as well as visits to community health centers, educational institutions, and hospital facilities. |
